The article draws attention to the seriousness of digital violence, particularly cyberbullying (online harassment). One of the main dangers of digital abuse is that it takes place unnoticed and continuously, often in closed groups, outside of school, and invisible to adults.
UNICEF emphasizes that online harassment can cause the same level of psychological trauma as physical violence, and many children do not dare to speak about it.
This is why it is important to:
- talk openly about the topic both at home and at school,
- make children aware that they are not to blame,
- ensure they have access to support and help.
The key to prevention is awareness, the development of empathy, and active intervention. UNICEF calls on children not to remain silent bystanders, but to stand up for one another and to seek or offer help.
